Between Detroit region, Ohio Valley, NEOhio, and e ven the Great La kes National scene, there is some grass, gravel, and dirt to send around in the next 5 weeks.

RallyVan is ready. Entries for Stock Front class range from 3-7 drivers so far. I’m excited to get out on the national stage and see how I fare. And, of course, photos and videos will be shared afterwards.

June is going to be rowdy.

100% aesthetic. There are several warnings saying they do not recommend using that hook to tow.

Well hell, should I switch to rallycross? I want to my first autocross and Detroit’s season open, test n tune isn’t until the end of June.

I’m very jealous. Milwaukee SCCA has turned my free ‘99 F-150 away.

I think we’re going to take a road trip to Iowa instead, and hoon on the backroads. As much gravel as possible. My friend (the original owner) left his expired plates on it, but all registrations that expired during the shutdown have been kicked down the road to 90 days after the DMV re opens, which means the plates are good until September. The friend who is letting me store it at his house has already put insurance on it, so game on.

Oh man! I played ball at Ferris over there! I never dabbled around your area too much, but frequented Montague through Mount Pleasant and almost everywhere in between. I’ve got a brother in law (future) over in Manistee; so I’ll mark a reminder next time I head up there.

Thanks buddy, I’m sure there are events in the Milwaukee region if you need to get your fix. I know one of the national events is at Road America

Not really sure how I didn’t notice that. I’m gonna try for the OVR event on the 6th, but that’s also my girlfriend’s birthday, so I’m not gonna hold my breath.

I mean, I don’t really know how popular a class “nearly stock fwd cars with open diffs and 8v motors displacing under 2L developing about 100 hp” is, but she said I could as long as I can get to her house by 6 so... see you there?

Have you run there in the past? I don’t have a skid plate or mud flaps, just want to know what sort of material to expect.

Bitzer’s Farm is all grass. A skid plate and flaps never hurt, but I have managed well without either. I also have a decent amount of clearance in the van, though.

I’m in talks with a guy who makes skid plates for Focuses (Focii?), and apparently they fit nearly perfect under the Transit Connect as well. Just need to save a few hundred bucks now.

Unfortunately I won’t be making it. My cam oil seal started leaking and I lost about 20 degrees of timing and now it’s mildly inop.

bummer, hope to see you at another event this year. if you can get your situation resolved, there is another race the following week at the same site. Then there’s NEOhio the 20th at Geauga Co. Fairgrounds, then nationals at the fairgrounds in Chillicothe the 28th.

I better have it sorted out by the 13th. The car’s sort of my daily. My Cabriolet picks up the slack when the Golf’s not doing too hot.
